Questa volta voglio parlarvi del primo volume di una serie la Curse Workers Series firmata da un'autrice che qui in Italia è già stata pubblicata da Mondadori : Holly Black

Cassel proviene da una famiglia di "addetti alle maledizioni" (insomma iellatori per intenderci ndt)-- gente che ha il potere di cambiare le tue emozioni, i tuoi ricordi, la tua fortuna,  tramite un distratto tocco di mano. E visto che maledire è illegale sono tutti mafiosi o artisti.Ma questo non vale per Cassel. Lui non ha il tocco magico, e così è un escluso: il figlio normale in una familgia strana. Normale se si ignora un piccolo dettaglio: ha ucciso la sua migliore amica, Lila,tre anni fa .
Da allora,Cassel ha attentamente costruito una facciata di normalità, perdendosi nella folla. Ma la sua finzione comincia a cadere a pezzi quando comincia a essere sonnanbulo, spinto nella notte da terribili incubi su un gatto che vuole dirgli qualcosa. Si accorge anche di altre cose spaventose, incluso il comportamento strano dei suoi due fratelli. Gli nascondono qualche segreto, invischiati in un piano segreto.Quando Cassel comincia a sospettare di essere parte di un gioco più grande, comincia anche a domandarsi cosa sia davvero successo a Lila. Potrebbe ancora essere viva?Per scoprirlo Cassel dovrà mettersi contro i truffatori
